Welcome to KLSD!

KLSD is the dance division of WISPA – Wisbech School of Performing Arts. WISPA is a unique offering where all of our students enjoy the opportunity to train and perform in a working theatre. In addition, our teaching practitioners include industry professionals and working actors.

We offer an exceptional environment for 2 to 18-year-olds where students immerse themselves in high-calibre training, whilst developing their talent and their passion for performance.

Our Dance classes follow a unique and inspiring programme. We offer a range of qualifications,
through the IDTA but having fun and building confidence is at the heart of what we do. Explore our diverse selection of classes below.

A fund to make the KLSD offer affordable and accessible to all was created in memorial to Emlyn Moment, you can apply for a bursary for all classes to cover up to 40% of the term fees. See the qualifying criteria and application process here.

Ballet

Essential foundations for strong and beautiful dancers.

Ballet is a discipline for not only the body but the mind.

Baby ballet introduces basic movement, and we continue to build upon this by following the IDTA syllabus and everyone will have the opportunity to take exams. After years of training and dedication students will have the opportunity to train for pointe shoes. (There are many factors involved in making the decision for a when a dancer is ready for pointe work, the class teacher will take these in to consideration and the decision will be at their discretion)

Ballet training will be an asset for life.

Tap

Young dancers love to explore their noisy feet! Tap is a music lesson in itself, students follow the IDTA syllabus and learn music note values and stage directions, everyone is given the opportunity to take exams.

Contemporary Modern Jazz

CMJ develops strength, flexibility, freedom of movement and deep musical connection, it is a great addition for any dancer.

Following the IDTA syllabus we explore many musical styles, and learn to bring emotion in to our dance. All students have the opportunity to take exams.

Street jazz

A chance to let your hair down and dance to your favourite tracks. This is a great class to explore your individual style and have some fun.

All students have the opportunity to take exams.

Commercial

Commercial pulls moves from a range of urban dance styles, concentrating on dynamics, rhythm, performance and musicality. These classes are off the scale fun, time to bring out your sass with fierce, full out choreography.

Baby ballet

A fun, imaginative introduction to the world of dance. Students explore music, rhythm and movement in a nurturing and encouraging way. Your mini dancer will pick up many useful skills, for not only the dance studio but also for everyday life. From listening to instructions, to taking turns. Baby ballet gives its students the skills, confidence and ability to move on to a wide range of our dance styles.

We kindly ask parents/caregivers to wait in our bar whilst the class is taking place so that the students fully benefit from our class.
